How to safely handle LPG cylinders at home
Step-by-step emergency response guide
Get your regulator and pipe checked every 6 months by a certified technician.
Apply soap water on joints to check for leaks. Bubbles indicate gas escape.
Always cook in a well-ventilated kitchen. Keep windows open while cooking.
Always turn off the burner and regulator after cooking. Never leave gas on.
Only use ISI-marked pipes, regulators and stoves. Avoid local/cheap products.
Never let children play near gas cylinders or stoves. Keep them away from kitchen.
Keep a small fire extinguisher in your kitchen. Know how to use it.
LPG rubber pipes expire every 2 years. Check manufacturing date on the pipe.
Check before connecting: Inspect the regulator for any damage, cracks or rust before attaching to cylinder.
Proper attachment: Connect the regulator firmly to the cylinder valve. It should click into place securely.
Test for leaks: Apply soap water around the regulator joint. No bubbles means it's sealed properly.
ON/OFF usage: Always turn regulator to OFF position when the stove is not in use, especially at night.
Replace every 5 years: Regulators should be replaced every 5 years. Check ISI mark and expiry date.
